NTI for Bruxism

Teeth grinding, gnashing, and gritting will eventually damage your dentition. Often this condition, known as bruxism, is involuntary. Some patients grind teeth from stress, while others have an occlusal problem or TMJ dysfunction. Bruxism and/or TMJ dysfunction can cause migraines and pain in addition to tooth damage.

Dr. Michael Morgan studied neuromuscular dentistry at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), so he has a thorough understanding of whole-mouth harmony and how to achieve it. In many cases, a simple oral appliance called NTI can alleviate bruxism altogether.

The letters NTI refer to an appliance that causes Nociception to the Trigeminal (nerve) to be Inhibited. The tss stands for tension suppression system. In layman's terms, the NTI is a simple, custom fitted oral appliance that prohibits teeth from touching. The small appliance clips to front teeth. To simulate the function of NTI, place a pencil lengthwise between your front top and bottom teeth, and shut your mouth. Your back teeth will not, cannot touch.

NTI is a simple solution to a complicated problem. If you suffer from teeth grinding, migraines, or unexplained tooth wear, you may have bruxism. Dr. Michael Morgan will be happy to assess your situation, talk with you, and prescribe the best solution.
